
The Nurses met with Chambers County DHR for an informative Professional Development day. Mrs. Julia Ann Hyde and her wonderful staff presented information to the nurses regarding Mandated reporting in the school system. Chambers County School nurses recently visited the Chambers County Community Health and Wellness Center in Lafayette, hosted by Linda Gibson-Young, Health Services Director. They were able to tour the facility and meet with members of the Alabama Department of Public Health to learn about many useful resources available in Chambers County. Parents this is a reminder that students who ride the bus may arrive 10-15 minutes earlier for today, Friday and Monday. Tuesday, Dec19th will be a half day and students load buses at 12:00

Red Ribbon week is celebrated annually from Oct. 23-31, and is the nation's oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program. The 2023 theme is “Be Kind To Your Mind.

Don't forget our fall festival is tonight. We are making adjustments to keep everyone dry this evening.
Visitors will be allowed to park in our playground area to maximize our space.

CCSD Statement – on Huguley Elementary School incident – Oct 10, 2023
On Thursday, October 5th, students at Huguley Elementary School began preparing for dismissal that afternoon. Prior to dismissal and following dismissal, no incidents of concern were reported by students or staff regarding the safety and well-being of any Huguley students. All dismissal of car riders and bus riders took place without any reported incidents.
On Friday, October 6th, near mid-day, Huguley Elementary School Principal, Mr. Philip Jenkins received a visit from authorities representing the Lanett City Police Department. It was at this time on Friday, that Mr. Jenkins was made aware of an alleged incident by which a Huguley Elementary School student was injured prior to dismissal on Thursday afternoon.
Mr. Jenkins fully cooperated with law enforcement authorities and reviewed campus video footage. None of the footage reviewed supported any of the allegations made to law enforcement. Additionally, the Huguley Elementary School SRO (or School Resource Officer), SGT. Yates found no evidence to support any wrongdoing by other students or school staff
The school leadership at Huguley and the District have strived to be cooperative and assist with the investigation. The Chambers County School District is committed to maintaining the health, safety and overall well-being of all of our students.
