Amazing Shake Competition Winners
We’re proud to celebrate our 6th–8th grade students who competed in this year’s Amazing Shake! Twenty-five participants brought their best professionalism, poise, and communication skills—congratulations to our winners:
• Overall Winner: Emmanuel Floyd (8th Grade, WF Burns Middle School)
• Second Place: Mason Landrum (6th Grade, WF Burns Middle School)
• Third Place: Courtney LaShae Jenkins (8th Grade, WF Burns Middle School)
These three students will travel to Montgomery in March for a three-day internship on the State House floor during the legislative session—an incredible real-world leadership opportunity.
Huge thanks to Dr. Weldon, Dr. Jones, Dr. Groover, Sarah Maddux, and everyone who helped make the Amazing Shake a success. We appreciate your time, mentorship, and support for our students.
What’s the Amazing Shake? It’s a competition that teaches students professional skills—like handshakes, interviews, conversation, and problem-solving—through real-world scenarios and friendly competition.

Every week on Bulldogs News, we celebrate the importance of showing up and track average daily attendance across all grade levels. Any grade that meets our weekly goal earns a special prize!
For the week of January 12th, the goal was 90% attendance. The reward? Lunch in the classroom with a movie anda Facebook shoutout!
Fourth grade was the ONLY grade to meet the goal! 🏆
Huge shoutout to our 4th graders, their parents, and their amazing teachers, Mrs. Kent and Ms.Bakarich, for making sure students are present at school and actively engaged in their learning.
Way to go, Fourth Grade! Keep it up! 💪📚

💵 Please remember:
To help everything run smoothly, students are encouraged to bring correct change, as teachers and the front office will not be able to provide change.
⏰ Important:
The front office will accept money until 9:00 a.m. CST. After that time, snack shack payments will no longer be accepted for the day.
Thank you for your support in making this a smooth and successful event for our students! 🐾💛

Thank you for your patience as we navigated the winter weather. We’re hopeful that road conditions have improved and that everything is clear and ready to go. But, please be careful and watch for slick spots on less-traveled roads.
📚🏫 We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27.
Stay warm tonight, and we’ll see you soon!

This brief shift to remote learning is a proactive measure intended to curb the spread of illness and allow our facilities to be thoroughly sanitized before students return.
We appreciate your flexibility and cooperation as we work together to keep our school community healthy and safe.

Note: Any parent notes used to excuse illness during January will NOT count toward the four allowed parent notes for the 2nd semester.
Thank you for helping keep our schools healthy!

We want to send a massive THANK YOU to the Mayor of Five Points, Melinda Turner, for her incredible generosity! ❤️
Mayor Turner stopped by to deliver a special gift to our teachers at Eastside Elementary School. Thanks to her, our classrooms are stocked up with essential supplies to help keep everyone healthy and prepared, including:
🧼 Lysol
🧻 Tissue
✨ Sanitizer Wipes
Thank you, Mayor Turner, for supporting our educators and caring about our students' health. We appreciate you! 🍎

Parents it’s not too late to complete those treasure maps and earn prizes for your child! Not only will you earn prizes for your child( ren), but you will also help us earn freeeeeeeeee books for all students!

🧼 Hand Hygiene: Remind kids to wash hands frequently, especially after eating, playing, or using the restroom.
🤧 Stay Home When Sick: If your child has symptoms like fever, cough, or fatigue, please keep them home to prevent spreading illness.
💪 Boost Immune Health: Ensure your kids get enough sleep, eat healthy foods, and stay active to strengthen their immune systems.
Let’s work together to keep our school community safe and healthy this season! ❤️

With illness spreading quickly this season, it's very important that we're able to reach a parent or guardian at all times, especially if your child becomes sick during the school day.
Thank you for helping us keep your children safe and well cared for.
